Obituary: Janice Farquhar, 83, of Pentwater
Janice Liboria (Pace) Farquhar, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 18, 2022, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Madison, Wisconsin, August 25, 1939, the daughter of Anthony and Lucille Pace. Janice and her family moved to Chicago soon after her birth.
In 1957, Janice met and married the love of her life, Thomas Farquhar, and had two children. In 1973, Janice moved with her family to Pentwater to run the Farquhar family’s resort on Pentwater Lake called Kozy Kove Cottages. After a few years, Janice and Tom bought the downtown Shell Gas Station located where the Shelby State Bank stands now. In 1976, they purchased the B&K root beer stand creating “The Hotdog Place.” Over the decades, with a lot of hard work and long hours, they grew the business into the current Gull Landing Restaurant.
Janice was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and traveling. She also enjoyed taking road trips to local casinos. Hundreds of past employees have attributed their work ethic and success to the years they spent working for Janice. Through their businesses, Janice and Tom made many contributions to their communities, and donations to local charities and families in need.
Janice is survived by: her son, Kenneth (Kristine) Farquhar; daughter, Diana Russell; grandchildren, Jessica Perysian, Adam Perysian, Jolyn Farquhar, Crystal Farquhar, and Jason Farquhar; three great-grandchildren, Liam, Anthony, and Ensley; two brothers, Terry Pace and Jack Pace; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janice was preceded in death by: her parents, Lucille and Anthony Pace; stepmother, Ida Pace; husband, Thomas Farquhar; and sister-in-law, Barbara Pace.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2022, at the Park Place, 310 N Rush St, Pentwater.
