Obituary: Paul Rosse, 85, of Hart
Paul D. Rosse, 85, of Hart, died on Thursday, October 20, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 3, 1936 in Custer, South Dakota the son of Paul and Gladys Rosse.
Paul was raised in Custer, South Dakota; in 1955 he left South Dakota to join the U.S. Armed Forces serving his country for five years before being honorably discharged in 1960. During his time in the military Paul met the love of his life, Sylvia Jetleb of Hart at a dance in Chicago while on leave. He and Sylvia had a lifelong love affair, marrying in September of 1960 and celebrating almost 60 years before losing his beloved wife in 2020.
Paul loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, but fishing Lake Michigan and the Pere Marquette River in Scottville, was his passion. Aside from Michigan fishing, Paul was also known to be found at Ranger Lake in Canada. He and Sylvia also enjoyed camping and traveling out west where he spent many days with his brothers and sisters. Paul prided himself in his John Wayne collection. “The Duke” was his favorite movie actor. If “The Duke” was not on the television, Paul had Anne Murray on the stereo.
Paul and his son started Paul’s Auto & Tire LLC, where they ran the business together until his retirement.
Paul is survived by his children: Kathryn McNew (Jeff) and Paul “Joe” Rosse (Sandi); brothers: Francis (Jeanne) Rosse, Gary (Erma) Rosse, and Mike (Vickie) Rosse; sisters: Jennial Flores, and Delores Hammer; grandchildren: Christopher (Rebekah) Townsend, Erin (William) Lawson, Jason (Tricia) Hallack, and Amber (Chris) Burden; great-grandchildren: Zaidy and Warren Townsend, Liam and Ella Hallack, and Easton and Bailey Burden; extended family: Dennis and Samantha Olson.
Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sylvia; his parents Paul and Gladys Rosse; and sister Patty Kelley.
A family memorial and burial will be held in the spring of 2023.
