Health department seeking coat drive donations.
HART — District Health Department #10 is taking winter coat donations for its winter coat drive at several locations across Oceana County until Oct. 19.
This year, in collaboration with GHSP, Gray and Company, the Oceana County Council on Aging, Peterson Farms Inc., the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, Shelby State Bank, and the United Way of the Lakeshore, donations of new or gently used adult and children-sized winter coats, snow pants, winter boots, hats, and gloves are being sought to provide free to families in need. In addition to these donations, personal hygiene donations are also being accepted.
Drop-off donations are being accepted during normal business hours at the following locations:
- District Health Department #10: 3986 N. Oceana Dr., Hart
- Oceana County Council on Aging: 4250 W. Tyler Rd., Hart.
- Shelby State Bank — Hart Branch: 811 S. State St.
- Shelby State Bank — Pentwater Branch: 388 S. Hancock St.
- Shelby State Bank — Shelby Branch: 242 N. Michigan Ave.
- Shelby State Bank — Hesperia Branch: 180 N Division Ave.
The official winter coat distribution event will take place Oct. 20 from 3-6 p.m. at DHD #10’s Hart office. DHD#10 will also provide individuals with the opportunity to receive flu and/or COVID-19 vaccines and to have their children’s car seats checked for proper installation.
“Thanks to our generous partnerships, anyone who comes to the Hart/Oceana office during the winter coat distribution event can pick up a free coat and a gift bag,” states a DHD #10 press release. Anyone who receives a flu and/or COVID vaccine during the event is entered into a drawing to win fun prizes.
