Obituary: Jimmy Olson, 70, of Mears.
Jimmy Arnold Olson, 70, passed away September 14, 2022, after a five year long battle with cancer.
Born in Detroit, Jim grew up in Taylor then moved to South Lyon to raise his son. He worked from a young age, including mechanics, police officer, and retired from Ford Motor Company as an ISO 9000 quality auditor. He and his wife moved to their longtime summer home in 2009.
Jim enjoyed his sand rail, working with wood, restoring a 1942 Ford Jeep, shooting at the range, and traveling. But he especially enjoyed photography and large family gatherings.
Jim is survived by: his wife of 29 years, Karen; sons, Christopher (Jenny) Olson and David (Hannah) Slater; siblings, Sharryn (Chuck) Kneshtel and Gene (Christina) Olson; grandchildren, Kenzie, Hunter, Skylar, Dominic, Charlie, and Chloe; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by: his parents, Virginia and Eugene Olson; many aunts and uncles; father-in-law, Nile Castleberry; brother-in-law, Nile; and cousins, Robert and David.
We will miss him deeply and find comfort knowing he is at eternal peace with Our Lord.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Mears United Methodist Church, 1990 N 56th Avenue, Mears.
