CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP — The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a recent series of break-ins to migrant camps and vehicles in which the thief or thieves steal cash, identification cards, cell phones, backpacks and other various personal belongings from farm workers while they are toiling in the fields, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The sheriff’s office has investigated two recent break-ins at farms on East Monroe Road and North 126th Avenue, said Sheriff Mast.

The intruders steal social security cards and passports.

“We’re confident they have knowledge of the work atmosphere of the migrant workforce and know that they operate on cash,” said the sheriff of the culprits.

If anyone has information about these crimes, they are asked to call the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office at 231-873-2121.
