GRANT TOWNSHIP — An autopsy of a 4-year-old boy who died Friday, July 1, at a home on West Clay Road was deemed “inconclusive,” said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast. However, investigators are awaiting toxicology results which can take up 120 days.

The autopsy was conducted Saturday, July 2, said Sheriff Mast.

The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the home at 3:20 p.m. last Friday to assist Grant Township Rescue and Life Emergency Ambulance with the boy who was not breathing.

“Aid was attempted at the scene, and then the 4-year-old was transported to Lakeshore Hospital in Shelby (now Trinity Health Hospital) where it was found that he had passed away,” said Mast.

“Oceana County Victim Services and Oceana Child Protective Services were on the scene to assist as well. Please keep this family in your prayers.”
