Dirt bike rider airlifted following head-on crash with ATV.

GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — A 17-year-old Grand Rapids boy suffered multiple injuries after the dirt bike he was riding crashed head-on with an ATV on private property Saturday, May 28, around 4 p.m., according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

The teen was airlifted by Aeromed to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The crash occurred in the 300 block of North 28th Avenue “at the apex of a hill on a tree-lined two track on private property,” states the report.

The dirt bike rider suffered two broken legs, a broken wrist, and a concussion, according to the report. The ATV driver and his passenger — both 13-year-old Ada boys — were not injured.

The dirt bike was a 2003 Kawasaki KX250F, and the ATV was a 2021 Polaris Ranger.

The dirt bike rider was wearing a helmet, and the two boys in the ATV were wearing seat belts, the report states.

Alcohol and drugs were not contributing factors in the crash.
