HART — The City of Hart Police Department recently received a $935 grant through the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority.

“The grant was used to purchase three 50-person trauma kits to be used in active shooter events where multiple injuries are encountered,” said Hart Police Chief Juan Salazar in a press release. “The three kits contain numerous medical and trauma equipment to support treatment and triage of mass causality events.

“The Hart Police Department is dedicated to the safety of our students and public and continually prepares for mass causality events and active shooter situations. Our officers are trained in the proper response to these events as well as medical treatment of various injuries, including gunshot wounds and severe trauma-related injuries. The Hart Police Department is extremely proud to have such life-saving equipment which reassures our dedication to our community and Hart Public Schools.”
