Obituary: Don Vega, 71, of Hart.
Don Vega, 71, of Hart, passed away April 20, 2022 at Spectrum Health, Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids, following complications from a fall in early March. He had a long journey following a kidney failure diagnosis.
Don was born March 17, 1951 in Brownsville, Texas to Amado and Virginia Vega. We believe his birth name as Adan Joseph, which he later changed to Don. He moved to Hart at the age of 3. He graduated from Hart High School in 1969. He married Nancy Culler later that year. They went on to have three children, Malissa, Christopher and Melanie.
Don worked at the Oceana County Road Commission for 20 years. He also ran his own business, Custom Tree Service for many years as well as trying his hand at a party store and landscaping services.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy (Culler); daughter Malissa Vega; son Christopher (Stephanie) Vega and grandchildren Elizabeth and James; and daughter Melanie Coon and grandson R.J. (Ronald Joseph) Coon; siblings Tony (Dee) Lozano, Arizona; Robert (Olga) Vega, Oregon; Maria (Steve) Mayo, Ohio; Manuel Vega, Gloria Vega, Calistro (Puppy) Vega, Virginia (Mike) Clark; David (Patti) Vega, Minnesota; Alice El Attari, Duane Vega and David R. Vega; many nieces and nephews and his beloved lap cat, Fluff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amado Vega and Virginia Vega; his in-laws, Walt and Doris Culler; siblings Felipe Benavidez, Amado Vega and Tom Vega and one grandchild, Jacob Coon and numerous chocolate labs.
