HART TOWNSHIP — A driverless pickup truck hit a parked car and a mobile home Tuesday morning, April 26, after the 52-year-old Shelby man who was driving it fell out.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. at the Pines Mobile Home Park, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.
The man was westbound on Tyler Road and “was going to pull into the trailer park by turning right when the driver was ejected from the vehicle,” the report states. “The vehicle then continued with no driver or occupants hitting a parked car. The driverless vehicle then continued hitting a trailer.”
The driver suffered serious injuries, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast. He was transported by Life EMS to Mercy Health Partners in Muskegon.
The report states that the 2002 Buick Lesabre that was hit and the trailer suffered minor damages.
Drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors, according to the report.
