HART — A 22-year-old Hesperia man pleaded “no contest” in 27th Circuit Court Monday, April 18, to third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Tanner Scott Goins, of 4548 Comstock Ave., “met the victim online and later convinced the 15-year-old to sneak out of her home with the promise of marijuana,” said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. “He subsequently engaged in sexual activity with her.” The incident occurred in Hesperia.

Goins, who has no prior criminal record, faces up to one year in jail for the conviction.

“We score his guidelines at 12-20 months — though he may only score 0-18 months,” said Bizon. “Consistent with the law MCL 769.34, we recommend a sentence consistent with the guidelines and the law and capped his sentence at 12 months in the county jail.”
