PENTWATER — The Pentwater Service Club (PSC) announced the creation of a new Student of the Month program — a monthly program recognizing outstanding students at Pentwater Public School.
The first winner of the award — senior Aubrey MacIntosh — was honored last week during a luncheon.
“Today we honored an outstanding high school senior who is also a most fitting winner of this inaugural award,” said Erik Bengston, PSC member who initiated and manages the Student of the Month program. According to Bengston, MacIntosh won the first-ever award with excellent academics and involvement in school activities that include the National Honor Society, band, student council, the Pentwater chapter of Green Schools and the Ocean Prevention Partnership for Change program. MacIntosh, who is dual enrolled at West Shore Community College, plans to attend Central Michigan University in the fall.
In attendance was Pentwater Superintendent Scott Karaptian who shared the multitude of adjectives used by school staff in nominating Macintosh, which include: intelligent, creative, organized, driven, compassionate, empathetic, energetic, optimistic, wonderful, polite, hard-working, thoughtful, kind, curious and conscientious. “The staff of the Pentwater School are grateful to the PSC for initiating this program that recognizes the many wonderful students that make up our highly-rated school,” Karaptian said, adding that Aubrey MacIntosh “…made us all proud today.”
