SHELBY — A 44-year-old Hart man was transported by Life EMS to Mercy Health Partners Lakeshore Campus in Shelby following a two-vehicle crash Friday, April 1, shortly before 6:30 a.m. on State Street near the Wesco convenience store, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

A 36-year-old Shelby man driving a 2011 Subaru Impreza told the investigating deputy that he was pulling out of the Wesco parking lot and onto State Street. “A parked vehicle was blocking his view of southbound traffic, so he continued out into the roadway and struck Unit 2,” the report states.

The 44-year-old Hart man who was driving a southbound 2016 Ram 1500 pickup truck told the deputy that the Subaru did not stop when it exited the parking lot. He said that he swerved into the opposite lane of travel to avoid hitting the Subaru, but it continued into that lane and struck his vehicle, the report states. He said it was going too fast in the parking lot and “flew” out onto North State Street and struck his pickup truck.
