Road commission outlines 2022 construction projects.

As the weather gets warmer, road construction projects begin to heat up.

Oceana County Road Commission Managing Director Mark Timmer recently shared a list of proposed projects throughout the county, which are pending township review and provided a list of road commission projects that are a go in 2022.

Road commission projects that are ready to go include:

  • 40 miles of chip seal/fog seal county-wide;
  • Bridge rehabilitation on Washington Road over the Pere Marquette River;
  • Crush, shape and pave 192nd Avenue from McKinley Road to White Road 2.5 miles;
  • Crush, shape and pave Shelby Road from 96th Avenue east 1 mile;
  • Overlay Oceana Drive from Village of Rothbury 1 mile north;
  • Concrete patching/shoulder paving​ of ​Oceana Drive from Madison Road to Jefferson Road 1 mile.

Proposed projects include:

Pentwater Township
​Montgomery Boulevard from the county line to the dead end: chip seal/fog seal 2,200 feet and ​​​​​​​​​​wedge 460 feet;
​Madison Road from US 31 Business Route/Monroe Road to the end:​​​​​ thin overlay 4,605 feet;
​Madison Road from the triangle off US 31 Business Route Monroe Road: thin overlay 265 feet;

Weare Township
​​​​​​Crush, shape and pave Washington Road from 80th Avenue to 88th Avenue 5,450 feet (OCRC project);
Pave ​Jackson Road from Oceana Drive 13,900 feet to the east;

Colfax Township
​Crush, shape and pave — potential special assessment —Ruth Drive Subdivision south of Washington Road ​​​​​8,488 feet;

Elbridge Township
Break​ ​​​​crush, shape and pave Polk Road east of new asphalt to east of 122nd Avenue 3,854 feet.
​​​​​​Miscellaneous wedging 128th Avenue from Tyler Road to Polk Road 2,700 feet;

Hart Township
​Contemplating bonding several roads;

Golden Township
Overlay ​56th Avenue and Tyler Road from Deer Road to 64th Avenue 6,814 feet;
​Streets of Mears – 3.2 miles of chip seal and 2,300 feet of wedging;

Benona Township
Pave ​Stony Lake Road east of 36th Avenue to 64th Avenue 18,190 feet;
​​​​Overlay ​28th Avenue from the new blacktop to Stone Road 5,544 feet — three-way split between OCRC and Benona and Claybanks townships;​
Total paving of ​Buchanan Road from 18th Avenue to 32nd Avenue 9,020 feet;
​​​​​32nd Avenue from Buchanan Road to Shelby Road 7,940 feet;

Shelby Township
Pave ​Baseline Road from 96th Avenue to 104th Avenue 5,540 feet;
​​​​Pave ​East Shelby Road from 104th Avenue to township line 5,450 feet;
​​​Pave ​Hayes Road from Oceana Drive to 64th Avenue 11,200 feet;

Pave ​West Shelby Road from 64th Avenue to Shelby Village limits 6600 feet;

Pave ​Woodrow Road from east of 96th Avenue to township line 9,235 feet;

Newfield Township
​​​Chip seal, fog seal, durapatch, wedging of ​Loop Road from 192nd Avenue to Hesperia Village limits 7,833 feet;
​​Chip seal, fog seal, 500 feet of wedging of ​176th Avenue from Loop Road to Zimmer Road 5,280 feet;

Pave ​200th Avenue from Pierce Road south to Baker Road, through curve​​​​ 10,300 feet;

Crush, grade and leave gravel on ​High Tower Lake Road around High Tower Lake ​​​​5,250 feet;

Greenwood Township 
​​​​Crush, shape and pave ​Roosevelt Road from Maple Island Road (M 120) to 192nd Avenue 10,560 feet;

Otto Township
​​​​Crush, shape and pave​ 116th Avenue from Wilke Road to North of Cleveland Road 5,314 feet (OCRC project);
​​​​Chip seal/fog sea/ l​116th Avenue from Cleveland Road to Park Road to 120th Avenue 3,600 feet wedge 150 feet​​​​​​​​​ (OCRC project);
​Chip seal/fog seal 116th Avenue from Wilke Road to Skeels Road 15,987 feet; wedge 1,000 feet​​​​ (OCRC project);

Grant Township 
​​​​​​Crush ,shape and pave Clay Road from 88th Avenue to 96th Avenue 5,320 feet;
Crush ,shape and pave ​​Arthur Road from Oceana Drive to Oneida Trail 1,175 feet;
​​Overlay 80th Avenue from Webster Road to McKinley Road from Oceana ​​​​​​Drive to west of 80th Avenue 2,595 feet;
​​​​Crush and shape ​​Skeels Road from Oceana Drive to Sikkenga Road (80th Avenue) 2,540 feet;
​​Crush, shape and pave 68th Avenue/Arthur Road from Water Road/M 20 ​​​​9,215 feet.

Claybanks Township
​​Partnering with Benona Township and the road commission ​​on Stony Lake Road east of 36th Avenue to 64th Avenue.
