Man flees from scene following drunk driving crash.

GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP — A 29-year-old Hesperia man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after fleeing on foot from the scene of a head-on crash Saturday, March 5, at 3 a.m., according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

The man was eastbound on East Garfield Road in a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix when he crossed the center line and hit a westbound 2007 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 21-year-old Decatur, Michigan woman, the report states.

The Pontiac flipped over on its top, landing in the middle of the road.

The suspect was apprehended by the an Oceana County Sheriff K9 in the woods to the north of the crash scene. 

Both drivers suffered minor injuries. A 20-year-old Hesperia man who was a passenger in the Grand Prix was not injured.

Both drivers and the passenger were wearing seatbelts.
