LUDINGTON — A 49-year-old Shelby man pleaded “no contest” to aggravated stalking and domestic violence in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, March 1.

Stephen Allan Lange, of 7305 Baker Rd., was arrested by the Ludington Police Department in February of 2021.

Lange approached the victim, who was a 46-year-old woman, inside the Ludington area Walmart, according to a press release from LPD. He followed her as she drove into the City of Ludington and called her on her phone. Lange and the victim had been in a dating relationship for about seven years, said Mason County Assistant Prosecutor Beth Hand.

Lange’s actions violated bond conditions set by the 79th District Court, Jan. 25, 2021, when he was arrested for domestic assault against the same victim. She also had a personal protection order (PPO) against him, said Hand.

During the domestic assault, Lange pushed the woman and tackled her, said Hand.

Aggravated stalking is punishable by up to five years imprisonment.

Sentencing is set for April 26 at 1 p.m.
