Obituary: Dawn Waycaster, 62, of Mears. 

Dawn Marie Waycaster, 62, of Mears, died Wednesday February 16, 2022, at Mercy Health Hospital in Muskegon. In accordance with Dawn’s wishes, cremation has taken place and Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date; one in Mears, and one in Flint, with Pastor Dennis Rouse officiating. Dawn was born July 1, 1959, in Flint, the daughter of Ellsworth and Peggy (Lawrence) Sprague.

Dawn graduated from Davison High School in 1977. She worked as a registered nurse at the McLaren Health System, (Lapeer and Flint) and Mercy Health Muskegon for over 30 years, as a dedicated servant of the Lord even helping people through the pandemic. In addition to spending time with her loving family, Dawn enjoyed many outdoor adventures from boating on her pontoon to getting air on the sand dunes in her sand rail, Sand Baby. She loved being outside in the sun.

Dawn is survived by her husband, Benny Waycaster; mother, Peggy Harris; daughters, Amy Amoss and her husband, Chad Amoss, and Erica Duncan and her husband, Jeff Duncan; step-children, Michelle Waycaster and Blake Waycaster; grandchildren, Nathan, Cora, and Madilynn Amoss, and Zachary and Bryce Duncan; half-brother, Dean Bonesteel and his wife, Hilda; sisters, Diana Sprague and Darla Johnson and husband, David; and several nieces and nephews.

Dawn was greeted in Heaven by her father, Ellsworth Sprague.

The family is very grateful for the care that was given to her at Mercy Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, those planning on an expression of sympathy may wish to consider American Heart Association in her honor.
