Shelby man sentenced for assaulting woman with knife.
HART — A 29-year-old Shelby man was sentenced to one year in jail for a conviction of assault with a dangerous weapon in 27th Circuit Court, Feb. 7.
Bernabe Luevano, of 134 N. Michigan Ave., pleaded “no contest” to the charge Oct. 4, 2021.
Luevano assaulted a woman with a knife, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. “There were no injuries, but she is still affected by the incident,” said Bizon.
The victim and the defendant knew each other, he said.
Judge Bradley G. Lambrix also ordered two years probation and $198 in fines and costs. Luevano received credit for 65 days served in jail. Two counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police were dismissed.
