Obituary: Andrea Garcia, 64, of Shelby.
Andrea N. Garcia, 64, of Shelby, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. She was born June 24, 1957 in Trenton to Victor and Dolores (Aten) Modena. Andrea lived in Dearborn before moving to Pentwater as a child. She graduated from Pentwater High School in 1975.
Andrea enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from 1976 to 1980 in the Alaskan Air Command in Anchorage. She married Juan Garcia on May 23, 1981. They lived near Bass Lake before moving to Shelby. Andrea was a patriot, an animal lover and a loving, giving person. She was a defender of children, animals and the defenseless. She dearly loved her family and referred to her children as her “little chicks”. She was boisterous, persuasive and friendly all at the same time and will be forever missed.
She is survived by her husband, Juan; her children, Zachariah (Megan) Garcia, Amanda Garcia and Abel Garcia; her grandsons, Lucky and Silas Garcia; her brothers, George and John Modena; her sister, Gena (Dan) Hooker; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant daughter, Lydia.
Visitation is Saturday, January 29, 2022, 1 p.m. with the memorial service with military honors to follow at 2 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home. Memorials for family expenses are appreciated.
