HART — A 25-year-old Muskegon man faces serving four to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty in 27th Circuit Court Monday, Jan. 24, to two felony counts of delivery/manufacture of methamphetamine.

In exchange for his plea, five other felony counts of drug delivery will be dismissed against Jamonte Javar Allen, of 436 Catawba Ave., said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon.

Allen was arrested by the State, Sheriffs, Chiefs Enforcement of Narcotics Team (SSCENT) after two incidents last May in the Village of Rothbury, according to his testimony. Allen told Judge Bradley G. Lambrix that he sold meth to the same person — who turned out to be an undercover narcotics officer — on two different occasions. The transactions took place in a car May 13 and May 18, he testified.

Allen appeared in court Monday via Polycom video conferencing from the Oceana County Jail due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The five felony counts to be dismissed are two additional counts of delivery/manufacture of methamphetamine and three counts of delivery/manufacture of a narcotic/cocaine less than 50 grams.

Allen was on parole at the time he committed the offenses, according to Michigan Department of Corrections records. In 2017, he was sentenced to two to 15 years for a conviction of bribing/intimidating/interfering with witnesses; one year and two months to five years for possession of weapons by a felon; two years for felony firearm; and two and a half to seven years for accessory after the fact, according to MDOC records.

He has prior felony convictions of delivery/manufacture of marijuana and narcotic/cocaine possession less than 25 grams, according to MDOC.

Sentencing guidelines in the case are 51-85 months.

Sentencing is set for March 31 at 11:40 a.m.
