Obituary: Charles Hutchinson, 86, of Hart. 

Charles Milo Hutchinson, 86, of Hart, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022. He was born August 2, 1935, in Ravenna, the son of Milo and Hazel (Lobdell) Hutchinson.

Charles moved to Muskegon and graduated from Muskegon High School class of 1954. While in high school, he worked a few years at Plumb’s grocery store. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army where he was sent to radio school and learned to send and receive Morse code messages.

Following Charles time in the military, he returned home and married Mar-lene Landis, and together had two children: a son, Nick Charles Hutchinson, and daughter, Shelley (Norman) Tietz. Mar-lene later passed away from cancer in 1978.

Charles attended Muskegon Community College and later, Grand Valley State University where he received an engineering degree. He was employed for 36 years, as an engineer, with Sealed Power Corp. He was also a liaison engineer making several trips to Mexico.

On June 20, 1987, Charles married Barbara (Swirsky) Januska, and they resided in Muskegon. For the next 20 years they traveled and had a winter home in Florida, before moving to Hart. Barbara is left to survive him, along with his children, Nick and Shelley; stepdaughters, Brenda (Joe) Bolduc and Vicki (Mark) Platt; granddaughters, Tabitha (Brian) Davis and Jessica (Erik Johnson) Churchill; step-grandchildren, Blade Bolduc, Baron Bolduc, Berlyn (Ryan) Buter, Fallon (Evan) Chabala, Grant Januska, Selina Platt, and Braxton Platt; great-granddaughters, Delaney, Harlow, and Addison; and brother, Donald (Charlene) Hutchinson.

Charles was preceded in death by: his parents; stepson, Jeff Januska; and sister, Cathy Hutchinson.

In accordance with Charles’ wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. His remains will be placed in the mausoleum at Evergreen Cemetery, in Muskegon, at a later date.
