OCEANA COUNTY — Two separate snowmobile crashes over the weekend resulted in minor injuries for both riders, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The first crash occurred Friday, Jan. 7, shortly after 10 a.m. on the William Field Memorial Hart-Montague Trail in the 500 block of South Oceana Drive near Buchanan Road and 79th Avenue in Shelby Township.

In addition to the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, Life EMS and Shelby-Benona Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.

A 15-year-old Shelby boy suffered minor injuries and was not transported by ambulance, said Sheriff Mast.

The second snowmobile crash occurred Sunday, Jan. 9, shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Trail #19 near 104th Avenue in Weare Township, said Mast.

A 23-year-old Niles, Michigan man suffered minor injuries when he lost control of the sled he was operating; fell off of it; and then the snowmobile overturned, said Mast. He was treated at the scene by Life EMS.

According to dispatch information, Hart Area Fire Department and Pentwater first responders were also dispatched to the scene to assist.
