Obituary: Marilyn Brown, 92, of Shelby.
Marilyn G. Brown, 92, of Shelby, passed on to her home in heaven on Sunday, December 12, 2021. She passed at home in Shelby where she lived with her son, Jim and daughter-in-law, Karen. Marilyn was born March 4, 1929 in Shelby to George and Mabel (Myrmel) Fleming.
She married Stanley F. Brown on August 18, 1951. He passed away February 21, 2012. She lived in Oceana County most of her life with the exception of two years in Spring Lake in the early 1950s and two years in Marion, Indiana from 1992 to 1994. Mrs. Brown was a registered nurse. She was employed at Shelby Hospital for twenty years and later at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility and Dr. Hasty’s office. She was a longtime member of Shelby Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by her children, Linda Shields Myers (and fiancé, Craig Gilmer), Jim (Karen) Brown, and Phil Brown (and fianceé, Mary McGowin); son-in-law, Ken Frame; brother, George “Jake” Fleming; sister, Mary Ann (Carl) Thom; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Austin) Stockman, Lauren (Jason) Rabe, Alissa Brown (and fiancé, Nate Dean), Brian (Holly) Brown, Eric (Gina) Shields, Lindsey Shields, Bret Frame, and Amy (Charlie) Zanayed; sixteen great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her daughters, Nancy Brown and Martha Frame, daughter-in-law, Pamela Brown, son-in-law, Michael Myers, brothers, Wayne Fleming, Sam Fleming, and Don Fleming, and sister, Joyce Hawley.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 17, 10 a.m. with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. at Shelby Wesleyan Church with Pastor Todd Deuling officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in the spring. Memorials to Shelby Wesleyan Church are appreciated.
