78th District Court sentencings, Nov. 18, 2021.

HART — The following were sentenced recently in 78th District Court:

Jacob Thomas Springer, 21, of 1024 E. Riley Thompson Rd., Muskegon, was found guilty Nov. 8 of disorderly person — jostling and was sentenced to 90 days suspended jail with credit for one day served; $1,420 in restitution; and $450 in fines and costs. One count of assault and battery was dismissed.

Brian Jay Erickson, 49, of 2251 W. E. Hills Dr., New Era, was found guilty Nov. 8 of attempted custodial kidnapping and was sentenced to 180 days suspended jail with credit for one day served and $425 in fines and costs.

Hailee Elizabeth Tarket, 22, of 8602 Robinhood Dr., Montague, was found guilty May 17 of operating while impaired and was sentenced Nov. 9 to 93 days suspended jail with credit for one day served and outpatient treatment. Fines and costs are waived, her court file states. One count of operating while intoxicated was dismissed. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).

Robert Charles VanDerZanden, 69, of 4441 W. Hogan Rd., Pentwater, was found guilty Nov. 8 of operating while intoxicated and was sentenced to 93 days suspended jail with credit for one day served; outpatient treatment; and $1,205 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

Jeffrey Eugene Spencer, 60, of 2730 Kensington Dr., Kalamazoo, was found guilty Nov. 8 of operating while intoxicated and firearms possession while under the influence and was sentenced to 93 days suspended jail with credit for one day served; Alcohol Highway Safety Education (AHSE); and $1,205 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. The handgun must be forfeited. One count of carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence was dismissed.

Drake Allen Potter, 18, of 4940 S. 180th Ave., Hesperia, was found guilty Nov. 10 of improper license and was sentenced to $300 in fines and costs.

Matthew Thomas Elkins, 32, of 1074 Becker Rd., Muskegon, was found guilty Nov. 10 of illegal fishing gear and was sentenced to $375 in fines and costs.

Chad Rydell Groff, 22, of 5046 Newport Rd., Kinkers, Pennsylvania, was found guilty Nov. 10 of operating an ORV on a right-of-way and was sentenced to $375 in fines and costs.

Arlandis Roosevelt Sanders, 28, of 3311 Peck St., Muskegon, was found guilty Nov. 15 of assault and battery and was sentenced to 90 days suspended jail with credit for one day served; no contact with the victim for six months; and $475 in fines and costs. One felony count of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police was dismissed.

Enriquo Joseph Cornell, 30, of 124 Bryer Creek Trail, Lizella, Georgia, pleaded “no contest” Nov. 15 to disturbing the peace and was sentenced to 90 days suspended jail with credit for one day served and $465 in fines and costs. One count of third-degree retail fraud was dismissed.

Jonathan Ochoa, 20, of 5294 S. Dickinson Ave., Fremont, was found guilty Nov. 15 of disorderly conduct — drunk and was sentenced to 90 days suspended jail with credit for one day served and $450 in fines and costs. 

Cheyanne Kay Schuler, 36, of 2837 S. 186th Ave., Hesperia, was found guilty Sept. 27 of operating while intoxicated and was sentenced Nov. 16 to 93 days suspended jail with credit for one day served; outpatient treatment; and $1,205 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

Bryan Lawrence Rhanor, 51, of 6 S. Hart St., Hart, pleaded “no contest” Sept. 27  to disorderly person — obscene conduct and was sentenced Nov. 15 to 90 days suspended jail with credit for 30 days served and $450 in fines and costs. One count of disorderly person — drunk was dismissed.

Rebbekka Leigh Couturier, 33, of 64 S. Michigan Ave., Shelby, was found guilty Nov. 15 of operating without insurance and was sentenced to one year suspended jail with credit for one day served and $450 in fines and costs.

Jeremy Lawrence Wicker, 33, of 7466 S. Evergreen Rd., Branch, was found guilty Nov. 15 of domestic violence and was sentenced to 93 days suspended jail with credit for 33 days served; six months probation; and $725 in fines and costs.

Robert Allen King, 30, of 1392 Clover Dr., Fremont, was found guilty Nov. 15 of driving while license suspended (DWLS) and was sentenced to 93 days suspended jail with credit for seven days served and $450 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

Amanda Lynn Steffes, 31, of 7308 160th Ave., Walkerville, was found guilty Nov. 17 of DWLS and was sentenced to 24 days suspended jail with credit for 24 days served and $125 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. Charges of unlawful license plate, harboring misdemeanants, operating without insurance and a second count of DWLS were dismissed.

Gavin Daniel Houghton, 47, of 14240 McPherson St., NE, Lowell, was found guilty Nov. 17 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $300 in fines and costs. One count of operating an ORV while license suspended was dismissed.

Ronald John McLean, Jr., 48, of 12302 Pike Ave., Grant, was found guilty Nov. 17 of DWLS and was sentenced to $400 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. Charges of second-offense DWLS and improper license plate were dismissed.

Alfonso Espino-Orozco, 28, of 1526 Lafayette Blvd., Lincoln Park, Michigan, was found guilty Nov. 27 of operating an ORV on a right-of-way and was sentenced to $375 in fines and costs.

Steven Lynn Landis, 33, of 4869 Wayne Ave., Pentwater, was found guilty of improper license and was sentenced to $125 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.

Pamela Kay Owens, 60, of 2263 S. 118th Ave., Shelby, was found guilty Nov. 17 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $200 in fines and costs. One count of improper license was dismissed.

Jacob Alan Blakey, 28, of 713 West Rd., Russell Springs, Kentucky, was found guilty Nov. 17 of operating an ORV on a right-of-way and was sentenced to $375 in fines and costs. 

David Lee Rose, 71, of 5965 S. Oceana Dr., Rothbury, was found guilty Nov. 17 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $300 in fines and costs. One count of operating without insurance was dismissed.

Christina Ann Moffett, 48, of 993 W. Grand Ave., Muskegon, was found guilty Nov. 17 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $300 in fines and costs. One count of operating without insurance was dismissed.

Donald William Schrumpf, 69, of  455 West St., Muskegon, was found guilty Nov. 17 of fishing with more than two lines and was sentenced to $400 in fines and costs.

Lorenzo Castillo, Jr., 20, of 702 Franziska St., Alamo, Texas, was found guilty Nov. 17 of fishing on closed waters and was sentenced to $375 in fines and costs.

Dismissal

Mark Lane Foster, 53, of 3417 N. 72nd Ave., Hart, one count of DWLS was dismissed Nov. 15.
