Pentwater to host summer Sculpture Walk.
PENTWATER — Sculptures will enhance the landscape along Hancock Street next summer in an effort to increase arts appreciation and business development.
The Pentwater Arts Council and the Pentwater Downtown Development Authority recently announced their sponsorship of the project.
The goal is “to enhance citizen appreciation of the arts and provide incentive for business growth,” states a press release from the arts council.
Five sites along Hancock Street have been designated for sculpture placement.
“A call for artists will go out nationwide in January, and a jury of professional artists will select the sculptures in April. Sculptures will be installed in May and June and will be on display through September when awards for ‘People’s Choice’ and ‘Juror’s Choice’ will be made.
“Pieces will be available for sale to individuals or may be donated for permanent installation in the village.
“An artists’ reception is scheduled for Oct. 15 to celebrate the artists and the success of the project. It is hoped that the event will be expanded to a three-year project with additional locations designated for sculptures.”
