Hesperia police chief resigns.

By Allison Scarbrough, Editor.

HESPERIA – Hesperia Police Chief Louis Herremans submitted his letter of resignation to the Hesperia Village Council during its regular meeting Monday night, Nov. 8.

Herremans, who was hired by the village in April of 2019, said he resigned because he is starting a new job.

“I just took another position and it will work out better for my family,” he said. Herremans said he wanted to hold off on announcing where he is going, because he has not been sworn in yet.

His resignation is effective Dec. 5.

Herremans replaced former chief Joe Fitzgerald who served from July to December of 2018.

Herremans was appointed lieutenant of the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division in 2017 and began his career at the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office in September of 1989.
