Pandemic impacts survey available.

The West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Commission (WMSRDC), in partnership with local economic development offices from the counties of Lake, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo and Oceana, has released three short online surveys to document impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic upon local businesses, public and nonprofit organizations and households.

Go to www.wmsrdc.org to take the surveys.

Information gathered will feed into a pandemic response and recovery plan that WMSRDC is developing with a planning grant received from the US Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration.

The documentation of local pandemic impacts may be useful for accessing various types of state and federal assistance for pandemic recovery. In addition, survey information will help planners identify anticipated additional impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and identify potential strategies for coping with future pandemics or other economic disruptions.

The surveys “went live” in late September and are currently available to the public on the www.wmrsdc.org homepage. Each survey, which generally takes about five minutes to complete, will remain open through mid-November. All survey responses will remain anonymous. Following the survey period, results will be aggregated into a summary report that will be free to view and download from the WMSRDC website before the end of the year.

The West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Commission is a federal and state designated regional planning and development agency serving 120 local governments in Lake, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo and Oceana counties. It is also the planning agency for the metropolitan transportation planning program for Muskegon and Northern Ottawa counties. Additional information regarding the pandemic impacts survey and WMSRDC are available at www.wmsrdc.org.
