78th District Court sentencings, dismissals.

HART — The following were sentenced recently in 78th District Court:

  • Itzel Alfaro, 28, of 421 W. Navarro, Pharr, Texas, was found guilty Sept. 13 of domestic violence and was sentenced to six months probation and $540 in fines and costs.
  • Daniel Robert Lash, 27, of 927 W. Lake Dr., Fremont, was found guilty Sept. 20 of domestic violence and was sentenced to six months probation and $575 in fines and costs.
  • Troy Lee Beem, 22, of 4183 W. Grand Ledge Hwy., Mulliken, Michigan, was found guilty Sept. 20 operating while intoxicated (OWI) and was sentenced to 93 days suspended jail with credit for one day served; Alcohol Highway Safety Education (AHSE); and $1,190 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).
  • Moises Alejandro Garza, 21, of 5742 W. Okemos, New Era, was found guilty Sept. 20 of larceny by conversion $200-$1,000 and was sentenced to one year suspended jail with credit for 48 days served; $300 in restitution; and $10 in costs. One count of larceny $200-$1,000 was dismissed.
  • Samantha Nicole McVay, 21, of 34024 Beaconsfield St., Clinton Township, was found guilty Aug. 2 of OWI and was sentenced Sept. 20 to one year suspended jail with credit for one day served; AHSE; and $1,190 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
  • Tara Johannah Achterhoff, 26, of 2118 Deerwood Dr., Twin Lake, was found guilty Sept. 13 of larceny $200-$1,000 and was sentenced to one year suspended jail with credit for one day served and $500 in fines and costs. One count of forgery was dismissed.
  • Brandon Dean McCann, 30, of Hart (street address unavailable), was found guilty Sept. 22 of driving while license suspended (DWLS) and was sentenced to 93 days suspended jail and $400 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. A second count of DWLS was dismissed.
  • Hollis Elvin Edwards, Sr., 47, of 1921 E. Bard Rd., Muskegon, was found guilty Sept. 21 of DWLS and was sentenced to $400 in fines and costs. In a separate file, Edwards was found guilty of DWLS Sept. 24 and was sentenced to $570 in fines and costs. Convictions reportable to SOS. Charges of open intoxicants, driving a snowmobile while license suspended and unlawful license plate were dismissed.
  • Elizabeth Ann McCallum, 37, of 9977 N. M 37, Baldwin, was found guilty Sept. 23 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $300 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.
  • Kenneth Delos-Lee Humphreys, 20, of 2250 E. Loop Rd., Shelby, was found guilty Sept. 23 of DWLS and was sentenced to 28 days in jail with credit for 28 days served and $150 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of unlawful license plates was dismissed.
  • Justin David Yonker, 35, of 8691 Aiken St., Montague, was found guilty Sept, 23 of operating an ORV while license revoked and was sentenced to $450 in fines and costs.
  • Nikolas Paul Martin, 20, of 139 E. Menes St., Walkerville, was found guilty Sept. 23 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to nine days in jail with credit for nine days served and $500 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.
  • Courtney Jean Shafer, 27, of 7233 S. Cabana Rd., Custer, was found guilty Sept. 23 of failure to report an accident and was sentenced to $450 in fines and costs.
  • Phillip Matthew Bowen, 43, of 5970 William Dr., Oxford, Michigan, was found guilty Sept. 23 of operating an ORV on a highway or right-of-way and was sentenced to $125 in fines and costs.
  • Nicholas Barry Anderson, 39, of 9950 Allen Rd., Clarkston, Michigan, was found guilty Sept. 23 of operating an ORV on a highway or right-of-way and was sentenced to $125 in fines and costs.
  • Trevier Jaxon Horner, 17, of 185 N. State, Shelby, was found guilty Sept. 23 of improper license and was sentenced to $475 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
  • Daniel William Waterbury, 30, of 3349 W. Monroe Rd., Hart, was found guilty Sept. 23 of unlawful license plate and fines and costs were waived. “Already paid civil infraction costs,” court records state.
  • Grant Thomas Trisch, 23, of 2047 Hunters Run NE, Ada, Michigan, was found guilty Sept. 23 of fishing without a license and was sentenced to $400 in fines and costs.
  • Joshua Douglas Lankfer, 23, of 6424 Tammarron Crt., SE, Grand Rapids, was found guilty Sept. 24 of fishing without a license and was sentenced to $475 in fines and costs.
  • Nellie Quintero, 86 Chapita Hills, Shelby, was found guilty Sept. 24 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $350 in fines and costs. One count of improper license was dismissed.
  • Jacob Matthew Carrier, 26, of 7225 Progress Dr., Twin Lake, was found guilty Sept. 24 of DWLS and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served and $500 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
  • Robert Brett Truxton, 32, of 22726 Northgate Ridge Dr., Spring, Texas, was found guilty Sept. 20 of operating without insurance and was sentenced to $200 in fines and costs.
  • Leslie Michael Meyette, 46, of 7304 W. Winston Rd., Montague, was found guilty Sept. 20 of dog running at large and was sentenced to $100 in fines and costs.
  • Alison Lee Osborne-Kissling, 52, of 11472 Sikkenga Rd., Montague, was found guilty by a jury Sept. 22 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $300 in fines and costs. Charges of operating an unregistered vehicle and failing to transfer vehicle title were dismissed.

Dismissals

  • Zachary Neil Hallack, 40, of 4212 W. Hayes Rd., Shelby, one felony count of assault by strangulation was dismissed Sept. 24.
  • Daniel Jenaro Quijas, 58, of 320 E. Main St., Hart, one felony count of assault with a dangerous weapon/felonious assault was dismissed Sept. 13. 
  • Phillip Arthur Boyette, 37, of 104 N. Michigan Ave., Shelby, charges of marijuana possession, driving without a license and unlawful license plate were dismissed Sept. 20. “Defendant has multiple pending felony charges, and it no longer serves the interests of justice to pursue these matters,” his court file states.
  • Cody Boyd Scheel, 33, of 8875 W. 13 Mile Rd., Walkerville, charges of DWLS and use/possession of flashing lights were dismissed Sept. 30. “Defendant has pleaded guilty to other felony charges and part of the plea agreement was to dismiss his pending misdemeanor charges,” his court file states.
