By Allison Scarbrough, Editor.

HART — A 26-year-old Caledonia man has been criminally charged in connection to a three-vehicle crash that injured an elderly Oceana County woman the afternoon of July 13 in Weare Township.

Harrison Grant Smith faces a misdemeanor count of moving violation causing serious impairment in 78th District Court.

Smith allegedly ran the stop sign at the intersection of Oceana Drive and Monroe Road, said Oceana County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Kevin Harrington. The maximum penalty he faces if convicted is 93 days in jail.

The woman, who is in her 80s, was transported by Life EMS to an area hospital. The crash was investigated by the Michigan State Police.

A Jeep, a Chevrolet Impala and a Mazda were involved in the crash, which closed Oceana Drive in the vicinity of the scene. The injured woman was in the Impala, said MSP Trooper Margaret Gazaryants previously.

Four people were involved in the crash, and the others were treated at the scene.

Information about the accident victim’s current medical condition was not immediately available.
