Construction to begin on new Pentwater Yacht Club building.

PENTWATER — Founded in 1935, Pentwater Yacht Club (PYC) has inhabited a century-old building for its 86-year history.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 13, the process to replace the aging structure will begin. The new building will be located at the same address, 205 S. Dover St.

Rockford Construction, based in Grand Rapids, will lead the removal and construction process.

Designed by Rockford with input from members, the new building will capture the spirit of PYC’s history and meet the needs of the club’s various summer events.

“As PYC moves onto our next chapter, we all agree on one thing, we love who we are — our PYC culture, our history, and the unique experience of enjoying Pentwater. We are thrilled to welcome members and friends to our new home in June 2022,” said Commodore Russ Cross.

Pentwater Yacht Club is a 600-member organization that provides a relaxed environment for fun on the water, in the clubhouse, and on the deck. The location below Pentwater’s Village Green affords great westerly views of Pentwater Lake and down the channel to Lake Michigan.

Each year, PYC promotes and improves sailing, boating and associated sports; offers excellent dining and social activities; provides an atmosphere of good fellowship; and sponsors activities for the youth of the community.
