Free boater safety classes in July and August.
PENTWATER — Oceana County Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Simon, who is head of the sheriff’s office marine division, will teach free boater safety classes in July and August at the Pentwater Yacht Club.
Deputy Simon will administer a test on the last day and issue boater safety certificates to all that pass. This allows them to operate personal watercraft, such as wave runners and jet-skis, as well as other boats.
The classes are July 15 and 16 from 8 a.m. to noon and Aug. 5 and 6 from 8 a.m. to noon. Students must attend both days of the class segment that they choose. Call 231-873-6771 or visit www.oceanasheriff.net to register. All students must be pre-registered.
