Assistant prosecutor accepts prosecutor position in Iron County.
HART — Chief Assistant Prosecutor for Oceana County Chad DeRouin has accepted the job as prosecutor for the Upper Peninsula’s Iron County.
DeRouin was hired as Oceana’s assistant prosecutor in March of 2017.
A Muskegon native, DeRouin earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in 2010 and his law degree from Thomas A. Cooley Law School in 2013. He is a veteran of the US Army.
He began his private law practice of Chad A. DeRouin, PLC in Ludington in 2015.
“We have the position posted on targeted sites like the prosecutor association,” said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon of the replacement search.
“Chad has been a wonderful part of our office for several years,” said Bizon. “We are happy for him in that this is an amazing opportunity for him, but we are sad he is leaving. He will not be easy to replace. My staff thinks highly of him and have expressed that this is a mixed emotion for them — happy for him, sad for us.”
