Obituary: Patrick Courneya, 56, formerly of Whitehall.
Patrick Leonard Courneya, 56, formerly of Whitehall, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021. He was born April 25, 1964, in Muskegon, the son of Leonard and Connie (Behnke) Courneya.
Pat was a retired captain with the White Lake Fire Authority, proudly serving the community for 16 years. He enjoyed fishing, grilling, and smoking meats; he worked for the past two years, as a meat cutter, at Mac’s Meats in Rothbury. Pat also enjoyed walking or riding his bike on the William Field Hart-Montague Trail State Park. Pat was always able to brighten a room and make people laugh.
Pat is survived by his daughter, Zoe Fretty; siblings, Timothy Courneya, Lisa (Brian) Bennett, and Michelle (Beth Prestia) Courneya; nieces and nephews, Jamie Courneya, Lindsey (Mike) Beckman, Jordan Bennett, Rachel Bennett, Nathan Bennett, TJ Courneya, Matt Courneya, and Cole Peterson; several great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Shane and Sheree Montie.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Gregory Courneya and Michael Courneya.
Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Friday, April 23, 2021, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, with Pastor John Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Oakhurst Cemetery in Whitehall.
