Woman injured in 2-vehicle US 31 crash.
WEARE TOWNSHIP — A 41-year-old Grant, Michigan woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday, April 7, shortly after 8 p.m. on southbound US 31 near Wayne Road, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.
The woman was a passenger in a 2005 Ford Escape driven by a 71-year-old Grant woman, who was not injured. Two other passengers — a 46-year-old Grant woman and a 79-year-old Twin Lake woman — were also uninjured, the report states.
“Due to mechanical issues, (the Ford Escape) was only going 55 MPH in a 75 MPH zone on the freeway,” the report states. The driver of the second vehicle “did not pay attention to the difference in speed” and hit the Ford Escape. The second vehicle was a 2008 Subaru Outback driven by a 26-year-old Mackinaw City, Michigan man, who was not injured.
The driver of the Escape was cited for driving without insurance.
The injured passenger was transported by Life EMS to Spectrum Gerber in Fremont.
