Walkerville Schools to remain open next week.

WALKERVILLE — Following a press conference from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer calling on high schools to voluntarily close due to an increase in statewide COVID-19 cases, Walkerville Public Schools has announced that it will remain open. The school put the following statement on its Facebook page:

“Currently the direction for Walkerville Public Schools is to maintain operation as normal with small closures if needed to address staffing issues as we have done in the past.

“In short, WPS will remain open –in face-to-face mode — and continue to hold sports practices.

“We believe face-to-face instruction is best for student learning and community.

“We will continue to monitor or COVID numbers and ask that you keep sick children at home.

“Only our preschool classroom is remote learning next week, April 12 through 15.

As information changes our administration will promptly give out information to our WPS families.  We appreciate all of your continued support.”
