County renews Life EMS contract for five years.
HART — The Oceana County Board of Commissioners unanimously agreed to renew its paramedic/emergency responder service agreement with Life EMS Ambulance through 2026.
This first five‐year renewal follows the board’s decision in 2018 to transition the county from an in‐house EMS operation — Oceana EMS — to a comprehensive service agreement with Life EMS Ambulance.
“It is of utmost importance to provide high quality care to our residents when they become sick or injured, and Life EMS Ambulance continues to live up to its top reputation for the quality of care they offer,” said Oceana County Administrator Robert Sobie. “Since implementing our original service agreement, patients have benefited from our partnership with Life EMS to ensure they receive the best care possible.”
Sobie noted a recent 2020 Oceana patient survey in which Life EMS Ambulance received a 92.42 percent patient satisfaction rating.
“Taxpayers will see a lower tax levy for 2021 from the voter‐approved ambulance millage because the county has seen lower operating costs since implementing the agreement in 2018,” said Commissioner Tim Beggs, chair of the county’s law and safety committee.
“Our team of locally based EMS professionals takes pride in the opportunity to serve their fellow Oceana County residents and visitors with the skill and compassion they are known for,” said Life EMS Ambulance President Mark Meijer.
“As a locally‐owned and nationally‐known provider of paramedic ambulance care for over 40 years, our highly experienced EMS team is committed to continuing to serve the Oceana County community with great emergency medical care when they need it most.”
