Pentwater Service Club to sell caramel corn at local retailers.

PENTWATER — Caramel corn lovers won’t have to wait until next summer to get the Pentwater Service Club’s caramel corn as the club recently announced that it will begin immediately to offer its product for sale at local retailers.

The club also announced that it will offer a mail-option for patrons wanting to send caramel corn to out-of-town friends and family members during the Christmas season.

“This is the first time ever that we are offering our delicious caramel corn to our customers at local stores,” said Ron Christians, PSC member who manages the money-raising project for the club. “Until today, the only way you could get our caramel corn was at one of Pentwater’s summertime events,” Christians said, adding that customers have been asking for a retail option for nearly two decades.

The stores carrying PSC Caramel Corn include The Pentwater Convenience Center, Wishing Well Easy Mart, Up North Market, Wilson’s General Store in Mears, and Port View Wine, Beer and Spirits.

The decision to sell its caramel corn product at the retail level was prompted by all the event cancellations brought about by COVID-19. Caramel corn sales account for most of the income the club uses for programs to make Pentwater, already a great place, even better.

“Caramel corn is one of those feel-good, Pentwater treats that reminds us of summertime at one of the quaintest places in Michigan,” PSC President Mark Trierweiler said. “When someone purchases a bag of our caramel corn, they know that they are getting the most delicious, hand-made caramel corn money can buy, but it doesn’t stop there. Profits are plowed back into programs that support the people of Pentwater, and that’s a win-win for everyone.”

Some of PSC’s 22 programs include: The Pentwater Community Gardens, Meet the Candidates Night, The Sand Sculpture Contest, scholarships for graduating seniors and 50 Baskets of food donated to the Pentwater Area Food Pantry at First Baptist Church, along with a plethora of volunteer projects on behalf of many organizations and individuals.

Patrons wishing to send Pentwater Service Club Caramel Corn as gifts during the holiday season can call the club’s caramel corn hotline at 231-869-3178 and follow the prompts.
