Village operations continue during COVID-19 office closure.
SHELBY — Village officials announced that beginning Monday, Nov. 16, the Shelby Village Hall will be closed to the public due to rising COVID-19 cases. However, officials want residents to know that the village will continue with daily operations nonetheless.
“The village staff is taking these steps in order to help keep our residents and staff safe and healthy,” states a post on the village’s Facebook page.
“As COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations increase, Village President Paul inglis wants residents to know the village continues to be ‘open for business,'” states a press release from the village. “Starting Monday, Nov. 16, the village office vestibule will continue to be used for dropping off water payments, zoning permits and other papers. The doors to the office will be locked in an effort to keep us all safe from COVID. Calls to the office (231-861-4400) will be promptly answered.
“Leaf bags will be delivered to your house on request. In-person meeting will be scheduled via the phone. Any non-emergency issues requiring a police department response will be asked to call Oceana County Dispatch at 231-869-5858. There are no reductions in the services offered by the Village of Shelby during this time. We will continue to keep the village residents, the water and sanitation system and our parks clean and safe. The office will reopen when it is safe to do so.”
