Man steals car, burglarizes house to steal beer.
NEWFIELD TOWNSHIP — Oceana County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 64-year-old Kent County man Friday afternoon, Oct. 2, on car theft and burglary charges after he allegedly stole a 2013 Lincoln Navigator from the Taylor Bridge Store and drove to a nearby house where he stole beer and drank it, according to Lt. Shane Hasty of the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect “walked into the occupied residence and took a beer out of the refrigerator and consumed it,” said Hasty.
The keys were in the car, he said. The car owner was working at the store “when she heard a woman yelling and running to the store to call 911, because someone unknown to her just entered her house,” Hasty said. “That’s when the employee realized her car was gone.” Her car was parked in the other woman’s driveway.
A witness observed the suspect get in the car and drive away, he said.
None of the people involved knew the suspect.
