CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP — Adam Wayne Selig, 43, of Shelby died following a two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday, Sept. 26, shortly after 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of 120th Avenue and Adams Road, according to Michigan State Police Trooper Todd Goodrich from the Hart post.

Selig, who was a passenger in a 1981 Chevrolet Corvette, was airlifted from the scene by an Aeromed helicopter and transported to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids where he “succumbed to his injuries,” Goodrich said.

The Corvette driver, who is a 46-year-old Hart man, was transported by Life EMS to Mercy Health Partners Hackley Campus in Muskegon. The state police are not releasing the driver’s name right now.

Walkerville Fire and Rescue used its Jaws of Life equipment to extricate Selig who was trapped in the wreckage.

The other vehicle involved in the crash was a 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old Montague man. An 18-year-old Montague woman was a passenger in the truck. Neither were injured in the crash, said Goodrich.

No other information is being released at this time, because the crash remains under investigation. “We have an accident reconstructionist coming up Tuesday,” the trooper said.

Crystal Township Fire Department and the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
