Motorcyclist, SUV driver injured in crash.

HART TOWNSHIP — A 44-year-old Muskegon man riding a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle was transported to Mercy Health Partners Lakeshore Campus in Shelby for injuries sustained in a crash with a 2011 Ford Flex SUV driven by a 16-year-old Hart boy Friday, Sept. 25, shortly after 2 p.m. at the intersection of VanBuren Road and Oceana Drive, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

The 16-year-old SUV driver was also transported to the Shelby hospital for minor injuries, the report states.

The SUV was eastbound on Van Buren Road and stopped at the stop sign at Oceana Drive. When the vehicle crossed Oceana Drive, the driver did not see the motorcycle headed north on Oceana Drive, the report states. The motorcycle driver “got on the brakes hard, but was not able to avoid hitting the (SUV) in the back right.”

The motorcycle rider was thrown from the bike and landed on the pavement, the report states, and the SUV “spun out” and came to rest east of the intersection.

The SUV driver was wearing a seat belt, and the motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet, according to the report.
