Quad rider ‘pops wheelie’ in front of deputy, falls into gravel.
GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — A 19-year-old Grand Blanc man was cited for careless driving after he allegedly “popped a wheelie” while riding a quad in an Oceana County sheriff deputy’s lane of travel on Fox Road near the Silver Lake State Park’s ORV welcome area Sunday, Sept. 13, around 4 p.m., said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.
The man lost control of the quad and went rolling into the gravel, suffering from road rash, Mast said.

– 2:28 a.m., (Oceana County Sheriff’s Office), a 21-year-old Shelby man was cited for driving while license suspended (DWLS) and improper license plate, East M 20, Newfield Township.
– 3 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 31-year-old man (hometown unavailable) was injured in an ORV crash at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. He was treated at Mercy Health Partners Lakeshore Campus in Shelby.
Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020:
– 12:42 a.m., (OCSO), careless/reckless use of a firearm involving several handguns and rifles, South 148th Avenue, Otto Township.
– 12:13 p.m., (OCSO), larceny of debit card information, South Clearwater Court, Grant Township.
– 8:44 p.m., (OCSO), a 50-year-old Hesperia woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated, southbound US 31 on-ramp, Pentwater Township.
Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020:
– 11:30 a.m., damage to business property, a Frontier phone pedestal was damaged, East Tyler Road, Elbridge Township.
– 6:03 p.m., (OCSO), assault, 200 block of North Lighthouse Drive, Golden Township.
