Motorist rescues toddler standing in middle of road.

HART TOWNSHIP — A case of child neglect has been turned over to Child Protective Services after a 3-year-old boy was found standing in the middle of Oceana Drive near Baseline Road Friday, Sept. 11 , shortly after 2:30 p.m., said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

A motorist retrieved the toddler after drivers had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting the child with their cars, the sheriff said.

The child, who had been reported missing from a nearby home, was returned to his parents.
