Re-count for Weare Township supervisor next week.
HART — Oceana County Clerk Amy Anderson has scheduled a re-count of the Aug. 4 primary election results for Weare Township supervisor Wednesday morning, Sept. 2, in the board of commissioners room.
The re-count was initiated by candidate Dale Stevenson, Anderson said. Stevenson — according to the Aug. 4 results — lost the election to Larry Doran 169-155.
The petitioner must have a “good faith belief” that he won the election in order to initiate a re-count, she said.
The re-count must occur after the four-member county board of canvassers and the board of state canvassers in Lansing have certified the results. The petitioner has six days to file after the results have been certified by the state, and then the re-count must occur within 10 days.
The recount meeting with the canvass board begins at 9:30 a.m.
“In accordance with the Governor’s executive orders regarding limitations on in-person meetings of no more than 10 people, the public, media, and all other parties not explicitly scheduled to attend the meeting shall only be allowed to participate in the meeting via teleconference using audio only,” states a notice from the clerk’s office.
