HART — A 29-year-old Hesperia man was sentenced to serve 120 days in jail in 27th Circuit Court Monday, Aug. 10, for a felony conviction of breaking and entering a building with intent.

Troy James Hern-Slocum, of 169 South Ave., pleaded guilty June 15.

Hern-Slocum broke into an unoccupied house in the Hesperia area and stole property that was in storage, according to Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon.

Sentencing guidelines in the case are 11 months, Bizon said.

Judge Robert D. Springstead gave Hern-Slocum credit for three days served in jail. Springstead also ordered 18 months probation.

Hern-Slocum appeared in court via Zoom videoconferencing due to COVID-19 restrictions. He must report to the Oceana County Jail to begin his sentence.
