LUDINGTON — A 20-year-old Hart man was sentenced to jail in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, July 21, for a conviction of attempted first-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC).

Alexander Cole Mayse, of 8977 N. 120th Ave., pleaded guilty, May 12.

Mayse was sentenced by Judge Susan K. Sniegowski to serve 141 days up front of a one-year discretionary jail term with credit for 141 days served. Mayse must also register as a sex offender and serve five years probation.

The victim is a 12-year-old girl, and the incident occurred last summer in the City of Ludington, said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola.

One count of first-degree CSC, which is punishable by up to life in prison, was dismissed in exchange for his plea. The maximum penalty for attempted first-degree CSC is five years in prison.
