Toddler dies after being run over in driveway.

CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP — A toddler died Tuesday after being run over in a driveway in the 500 block of East Jackson Road. Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast said deputies from his department, along with an officer from Shelby Police Department, were dispatched to Hackley Lakeshore Hospital in Shelby Tuesday evening for a report of an unresponsive child that had arrived at the hospital.

“The investigation revealed that during a family gathering at the residence, a 16-month-old girl had wandered out of sight as a family member was moving a Chevrolet pickup in the driveway,” Mast said. “When the driver moved the truck, he immediately stopped when he felt something.  Unfortunately, the toddler had been knocked to the ground and run over causing fatal injuries.
