Historical society re-opens by appointment only.

HART — Researchers are now allowed by appointment only inside the Oceana County Historical and Geneaological Society building.

Call ahead at 231-873-2600 before you intend to visit. The historical society is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays only. Volunteers will generally answer phone calls starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Appointments will be scheduled in two-hour blocks. Appointments will only be held for 15 minutes before being released to someone else.

Masks are strictly required before and during entry. You must provide your own mask and wear it at all times, and bring your own hand sanitizer.

The 6-foot social distancing rule restricts the number of people who can be in the building at one time. “Please understand we are doing our best to keep you and our volunteers safe, while complying with State of Michigan guidelines,” states a historical society press release. “Your cooperation is sincerely appreciated.”

This policy is subject to change as necessary.

As always, no cameras, cell phones, photographic devises, recording equipment, food or beverages allowed.
