78th District Court sentencings, May 29, 2020.

HART — The following were sentenced recently in 78th District Court:

– Raymond Franklin Thomas, Jr., 34, of 3752 Liberty Ave., Muskegon, was found guilty May 11 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $340 in fines and costs. One count of driving while license suspended (DWLS) was dismissed.

– Ashley Marie Cass, 25, of 822 Vine St., Manistee, was found guilty May 13 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $415 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.

– Brandon Clarence Ecklund, 32, of 1847 E. Broadway Ave., Muskegon, was found guilty May 21 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $290 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.

– Donald Eugene Huntley, 28, of 6997 E. Jackson Rd., Walkerville, was found guilty May 20 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $290 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.

– Michael James Jobbins, 39, of 10781 Parkwood Dr., Montague, was found guilty May 20 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $365 in fines and costs. One count of violation of a restricted license was dismissed.

– Ryan Michael McElfish, 39, of 1887 E. Fish Rd., Shelby, was found guilty May 20 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $290 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.

– Jeremy Lynn Sanderson, 37, of 409 E. Church St., Hart, was found guilty May 21 driving while license not valid and was sentenced to $525 in fines and costs.

– Aurelio Martin Melchor, 33, of 578 Harvey St., Shelby, was found guilty May 19 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $290 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.

– Mark Allen Ticer, 28, of 710 E. Main St., Hart, was found guilty May 19 of using illegal fishing gear and was sentenced to $275 in fines and costs.

– Jacob Timothy Tjapkes, 32, of 97 S. 66th Ave., Shelby, was found guilty May 21 of fishing with more than two lines and was sentenced to $250 in fines and costs.

Dismissal

– Jennifer Ann Civis, 34, of 8168 Cook St., Montague, one count of felonious assault was dismissed May 19. “The victim in this case has indicated that he will not cooperate or testify in this matter,” court records state. “As it is not previously recorded under oath, this renders this matter unprosecutable.”

Editor’s Note: The suspended license charges are not a result of the Secretary of State offices being closed due to COVID-19, according to Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. The defendants’ driver’s licenses were suspended or invalid prior to the statewide closure of the SOS offices.
