Pentwater graduation set for July 9.
PENTWATER — The Pentwater High School Class of 2020 graduation ceremony is set for Thursday, July 9, at 7 p.m. on the Pentwater Village Green.
“After presenting you with a survey to determine the day and date that would work the best, the date that received the largest response is Thursday July 9, 2020 at 7 p.m.,” Superintendent/Principal Scott Karaptian. states in a letter to graduates and their parents Wednesday, May 20.
“Here is the proposed plan, which of course will be COVID-19 and weather dependent:
“We will be planning on having a graduation ceremony on July 9, 2020 at 7 p.m. at the ‘Village Green.’ I have been working with the village to reserve this space for our ceremony. If the weather does not permit an outdoor graduation ceremony, we will have the school gymnasium as a rain site.
“If the COVID restrictions do not allow us to have a ceremony with a large gathering, we will also have the school gymnasium to hold a ceremony with some crowd restrictions. This ceremony would not be open to the public — each graduate would be allowed two guests and we would provide a live streaming (with a possible viewing cost) of the event for those who would not be able to attend. We would provide and arrange for safe distancing and safety measures for the ceremony for our students, board and staff.
“We will keep everyone posted as the time draws near and what, if any, COVID restrictions are still in place.
“Thank you and again congratulations, Graduating Seniors of 2020!”
